My second strangers from Friday in Nottingham City Centre.
I was in the Lace Market wandering around St. Mary's Church. I noticed a group of about 8 people outside the steps to the church. They were all talking and all on their mobile phones.
I assumed it was a guided tour of the Lace Market as the area does attract a few tourists.
i took some pictures of the church and noticed that the crowd had dispersed but Debbie and keith were still loitering outside the entrance.
So I made my approach for a stranger shot.
When I approach two people together, I let them decide if they want to be shot as a couple or individually.
They opted to be shot together, upon which I asked if they were a couple, which promoted big smiles and laughs.
Debbie and keith are not a couple, I think they said they were work colleagues, but i may be wrong about that.
So what were they doing in the Lace Market outside the church?
Well they (and the other crowd of people who had dispersed) were playing Pokémon GOon their mobiles and had stopped outside the gates because there were a lot of Pokémon's to catch at that location.
I first shot then outside a blood door across the street, but the door wasn't big enough to produce a blue canvas, so I asked then to stand in front of the church wall, on the road (there was no pavement).
I didn't have too long to photograph them as Keith had to get to work to do a PDR. I asked what a PDR was and he explained he worked as a civil servant and PDR's were Peer Development Reviews, which i would have described an "appraisal"
Anyway that's the stranger story. i think Debbie and Keith's friendship is expressed in the warm smiles they show in this photo.
