Nottingham's St Patrick Day celebrations were seriously curtailed yesterday as the bad weather caused the organisers to cancel the celebrations due to take place, centre stage in the Old Market Square.
There was still a parade, but this took place in both blizzard conditions and sunshine.
The parade started outside the Thurland Hall public house and this is where I met Kelly and her family. I thought Kelly in her bright green outfit would make a great stranger so I approached her and her family and asked if it was OK to take a picture for my project.
Kelly agreed straight away without hesitation and asked if I wanted to photograph all of them. I did take some family photos and also took some of Kelly on her own.
It was snowing when I took this shot and if you look closely you can see the snow drifting around the frame.
It was quite a quick photoshoot as it cold and snowing. Kelly comes from Nottingham and has Irish family.
I've since had a FB message from Kelly asking me to send her the pics, which I have done. The pictures of both Kelly and her family are really nice and Kelly really likes them and is printing one of the family group images to give to her Grandmother who is too poorly to attend the parade now. Kelly's FB page told me she is also a support worker at Macmillian Cancer Support.
Thanks for being stranger 123 Kelly.

A beautiful sunny and friendly face - in spite of being chilled to the bones in yesterday's climate .Love the way the background tones in with the green of her dress ! ( shame her hat is not of the same shade of green ! ) FAV
Smasher of a shot, Phil. She has a wonderfully natural smile that makes me smile back. Great choice of background too.
Glad Kelly likes the photos but that's no surprise. Bet you're chuffed that they're providing some cheer for her grandmother.
