Award Winner

I entered this image in a competition.

The Friends of Gedling Country Park ran a competition for images took in the park. This image won the "Nature Section" and my prize was a bundle of L'Oreal beauty products !

I also came second overall and will receive a framed print of the image.

I thought the flower was a dandelion, but my wife heard somebody in the room questioning whether it was a dandelion.

Anyway, here you have it "a hoverfly approaching a yellow flower"
This deserves a prize for sure. Perfect timing

Well done you !! congratulations . It is of the dandelion family - but I think it is a "hairy hawkbit" - the stem is hairy and not a smooth hollow stem like the dandelion !

I think it is too beautiful for a mere dandelion but after a bit of research, I now think it is. Congratulations for this composition and hope your skin is soft and fragrant now!

thanks everyone , I contacted the organisers of the competition and according to their resident wildlife guides the yellow flower head is a "mouse ear"

Haha... and there's me thinking it was a Cat's Ear ...well, what do I know.

This definitely deserves an award. I would have said dandelion too. Who knew?
