This is my second picture using my Pentacon Auto 1.8/50 Multi Coating vintage lens.
The Pentacon 50mm lenses have an M42 screw mount for attaching to your film camera. Back in the day all lenses had M42 thread which meant that Zeiss lens / Pentacon Lens / Leica Lens / Pentax / Helios were all interchangeable with any camera. During the 70s manufacturers started developing their own propriety mounts meaning the customer was locked into camera / lens . We now have a myriad of different camera mounts. Progress eh ?
Ruby is always my willing model. All I have to do to get those beautiful eyes lit and ears up is just say a few key words.
This is shot at about f2.8 and I am very impressed with the final result. Who;d have thought a forty something year old lens could do such a great job in 2019
The lens is a keeper for sure.

What a wistful face ! - you've captured the glint in her eyes so well- and those ears !! wht can I say - "I believe I can fly "- R Kelly comes to mind !! fav
super results. The eyes are amazing. The lack of interchangeability of the lenses is what puts me off investing in an SLR. It seems I have to commit to a system right from the start, without knowing enough about it.
Lovely portrait. Do you have a M42 mount camera to try with the Pentacon 50mm/f1.8 ? Plenty of films to choose from to provide further fun-filled hours!
This is perfect - the ears and eyes - amazing! I'm wondering what the key words are so I can try them on my dog:) Very interesting info about the lens.
