It was Nottingham Pride yesterday. A great street party and event.
My wife and I always plan a visit to Nottingham to coincide with Pride. I normally hang about at the start of the parade looking for strangers while my wife does some retail therapy and then we both follow the parade through the city.
My wife broke her foot 3 weeks ago and we sort of decided our normal routine wasn't practical.
I got bit / stung on Thursday in the record high temperatures and my face swelled up, so I only decided to go to town at the last moment,
I missed the start of the parade, so no strangers shots ( you cannot really do a stranger interview during the parade as it is really noisy and not practical
It rained for most of the walk and rained for the street events too.
When I saw this young lady in her pink outfit, pink hair, pink make up and pink pattern brollie, I knew she would make a great pic.
I used the brollie as a backdrop to hide the parade and people behind her. In fact I directed her to move it to ensure I got a clean shot :)
Great use of the brollie for the background. Beautiful portrait shot and the young lady is very pretty but I have to say I don't like the ring on her nose.
I love this. The whole look is such a great expression of the lady's personality and the use of her brolly to remove distractions was inspired. It not only removes irrelevance, it adds meaning with its colourful and fun print.
And I love how the scattering of jewels on the lady's garment and the scattered effect of the doughnut print complement one another.
Sorry to hear about Jane's foot! I hope it's healing well and she's managing to get a decent night's sleep - it makes such a difference.
