I was in Nottingham this morning and had a walk around the city centre, doing some street photography and as always looking out for strangers for my project.
When I was walking around the Sneinton market area of the city I walked past a Fashion shop and saw a beautiful little Yorkshire Terrier (Bindi) sat in the entrance / door. She was on her own, watching the world go by. I went up to say hello to her and she was really friendly, wagging her tail and allowing me to stroke and chat to her. As I was chatting to her and making a fuss Bidi’s twin arrived on the scene, Skull, quickly followed by their human, Reeta.
I had a chat with Reeta about her dogs, Reeta telling my that the word Bindi describes the coloured dot worn on the centre of the forehead, originally by Hindus and Jains from the Indian subcontinent .
I asked Reeta what kind of shop was Bindi “guarding”. Reeta told me it was the home “One BC”, an independent fashion brand designing bespoke, made to measure clothing. Her website describes it better than I can...”One BC is an innovative, independent British fashion brand for men and women. We specialise in creative cutting & attention to detail, made to measure for you. We provide a truly unique and bespoke service, all hand-made in the studio. Be it jeans, wedding frocks, suits and shirts; we can bring your vision to life.”
I asked Reeta how long she had been designing clothing, Reeta told me she had over 20 years experience. I asked her if she had studied at Trent Uni’ as it had a good reputation for Fashion Design. Reeta told me she studied in Northampton and her husband studied at Trent Uni’.
I then told her about my strangers project and asked her if I could take her photo with her dogs. Reeta said it would be a pleasure. By this time Skull had gone back into the shop / studios, so I asked Reeta to scoop up Bindi and I took some photos with my Sony A7. As you can see Bindi and Rita make a great team, although I think Bindi is trying to be the star of the photoshoot. I gave Reeta a contact card and she gave me one of hers. I told her to contact me if she wanted some copies if the photo. I wished her a good days trading and thanked her for the photos.
Reeta’s website address for her business is shown below if you want to take a peek
