We went into Nottingham this morning, we arrived early (09.30) to miss the crowds, my wife visited a few shops and I had a wander around the city. I took some beautiful photos of the “galloping horses”fairground merry go round before the Christmas Market opened.
On the way back to meet my wife, I saw Ainin and her friend taking some photos near the Brian Clough statue. Ainin had a Canon camera in her hand and I had a Sony, so I went over for a chat about “cameras”. While chatting I told Ainin about my street photography project and asked if she would be part of my strangers project. Ainin thought it was a wonderful idea and project and asked me where she should stand. I took a few photos of Ainin including some with her camera.
Ainin is a second year student at Manchester University, studying Accountancy and Finance. I told her I went to Manchester Uni’ albeit forty something years ago, that made Ainin smile. Ainin is from Malaysia (she told me from the south), She told me they had been in Nottingham for three nights. I asked her if she liked the city, she said she did but the weather had been disappointing (we’ve had a lot of rain over the last couple of days).
Ainin had a lovely friendly nature and seemed really pleased that I had asked her for a photo. I showed her some of my “stranger photos” on my phone and she really liked them. In fact shortly after I returned home, I received a really nice email from Ainin, which read …”I scrolled through your Instagram and all the photos are amazing. The diversity of people you met and the collection are just splendid! . You did such a great job on the photography and editing. I'm so lucky to be part of your wonderful project and so nice to meet someone like you who is so brave enough to approach me. Just wondering if I can have all the photos so I can promote your work on social media as well. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming album.”
How lovely were Ainin’s words? I’ve sent the photos to Ainin, so I am looking forward to know what she thinks about them.
One of your best, definitely. Fav. I could say the same things to you having seen so many gorgeous portraits since I befriended you on 365 and the way you make a friendship with those you choose to take pictures of and your stories are always very interesting. You merit all her praise, too.
How sweet that Anin shared her excitement! That must be heartwarming for you.
