Waitrose had a 25% off wine festival (to celebrate the Coronation), so we drove over to Newark to buy some of our fave wine (we only buy it on offer ... Mont Gras Reserva Carmenère) . We do our weekly shop at Lidl, but occasionally drive to Waitrose for the specialist goodies they sell.
At lunch time we went to a wine tasting experience in Arnold (a new venture in our shiny new market place). It was a birthday gift to my wife from our daughter Kirsty and her husband Matt.
This our the table with our tasting notes, we sat outside (under cover) in the rain and drizzle.
We missed a big chunk of the Coronation, but caught up with it on catch up TV when we returned and fast forwarded the 'slow bits'
We had a chuckle on the way home from Waitrose when Jack Whitehall was the guest on Claudia Winkleman on Radio 2, his Mum had been on the Mall since Tuesday, and he described the Coronation as "Tory Glastonbury" ! It was a funny line, albeit the Coronation appeals to a wide diverse selection of our population !
Jane said who's that in purple ? Google told me it was Penny Mordaunt, a sword wielding Tory politician in a teal Anne Boleyn outfit . Many think she stole the show !
I love a good wine tasting haha
as for Penny - she looked fabulous and definitely stood out, particularly as the first woman to carry the sword of state.
Happy belated birthday to your wife, Phil. I am sure you had a lovely day, especially after drinking some good wine when even the ugly looks beautiful. My prefered one is always red. Great shot.
