Buttons on English Rugby Union shirts are soft rubber. They’re rubber for a reason given the sheer physicality of the game (Rugby Union is slightly similar to American Football but without the padding and helmets) and a solid plastic button could be very dangerous in tackles or scrummages. Ghe shirt is an old Leicester Tigers ‘away’ shirt from the 2006/07 season, that I love and still wear. English Premiership Rugby rules state second/away shirts should be ‘light in colour’, so the white with purple trim worked well.
