Day 2: Green - The Weir, Pulteney Bridge, Bath

We had a trip down the river on the boat moored here. The Weir is mesmerizing, not least for the noise of rushing water.
Like the light and shade, and the movement of the water, have never been to Bath, but looks very pretty.

Love the shape of the weir and the foamy water, you framed this really nicely to give maximum impact to its unusual shape.

Wow! Fabulous capture of the torrents of water. It looks like a beautiful place.

How unusual but well captured. Does the sound of running water effect anything? Ray?

Beautiful photo of the weir and surroundings. I didn't know what a weir was until about a month ago we saw one in Landsburg DE. They are mwsmerizing.

Great pov, so effective seeing it from a birds eye view. Just beautiful. Feel a little nostalgic - saw quite a lot of Bath at one time because my two stepsons, and my youngest daughter went to school there (as did my husband and his father!)

Thanks everyone for your interest and lovely comments. If you've never been to Bath, I can really recommend it and if you've already been a lot, hope you don't feel too nostalgic. Had another look at the weir just now and have made a small video just to take the sound of the water home with me.

Have only ever had a brief brush with Bath when looking around the University. I didn't realise that even their weir has a crescent. I'll love to visit properly.

@judithg Oh you are observant - a crescent weir!

A great view of the river .I wonder why they don`t have make a dock to compensate the different levels of the water or is there a little dock not to be seen on the left hand side ? (behind the trees) Love the noise of falling water , for a while

@pyrrhula There is a separate canal with locks. This weir was made in 1972, perhaps to be decorative as much as anything as it is made in an unusual shape. (I'll do some research later!!)

Oh, I remember this - wonderful capture!

@pyrrhula This parabola shaped weir replaced a straight 18C weir. It is for flood control and no need for locks as the river is hardly navigable past the bridge (out of view to the left of my shot), Behind the white boat and between the trees is another flood control.
