I went on a painting course for a term the last time I came out of hospital after an episode of illness (thankfully 10 years ago) and as part of my recuperation.
I suppose it was therapeutic to paint but I have to admit that what I see as the instant gratification of photography is more to my liking.
Nice work, Hazel. I used to paint and found it very therapeutic and time-absorbing, but I have also succumbed to the instant gratification of photography now. Last year I gave most of my materials to the local art club but kept one box of pastels and a pocket-sized paintbox in case I get the urge to try again.
Hmmm ... now that you have reminded me . . . . . !
@quietpurplehaze I know the feeling of wanting perfection in one's mind eye - but is it so wrong to get it wrong --practice makes perfect - and after all there is plenty more paper & paint to be had !!( sorry if it sounds like a lecture !! )
@beryl
I've googled him and going to have a look athis work at my leisure (have walked Jinks and now it's the supermarket - a woman's work.) I'll remember what you said about paper and paint, thanks!
Gosh, this is very good Hazel, I wish I could paint half as well! Very seasonal too! Definitely a christmas card candidate!! Very impressive - you are very artistic obviously!
Thanks, Patricia, you are very kind. I did use this painting the following year as Christmas cards for a few people. But I always had trouble with margins on the printer and no matter what I did, they never seemed right so I didn't make cards again. (Funny thing, I hadn't thought of this being seasonal when I posted it!)
This is really nice Hazel. I started painting but then found photography so I understand what you mean! 365 has taken over my life but I have got a couple of my pics that I painted on the wall although they are not brilliant. I think the trouble is we are our own worst critics!
Rosie, thank you, the thing is I always feel I can blame the camera if a photo is not quite right but I cannot attach error to a paintbrush in the same way!
I am indeed, Patricia although I hardly ever go on it - you can find me under Hazel Spencer (tried to bookmark it for you but unsuccessfully). I find it a bit strange but if you befriend me perhaps I'll go on it more!
Nice work. I to went on a painting course about 25 years ago. Although I enjoyed it I felt a bit intimidated by the great artists around me. Now I'm older I don't think that would bother me.
Beryl, you are very kind and maybe I will take it up again. I do believe it is therapeutic but I'm always a bit scared somehow of getting it wrong!
Hmmm ... now that you have reminded me . . . . . !
Well I think I have some painting materials somewhere still, so there could be two of us painting quietly at home over Easter!
I must see if I still have the 'snapshots' of the blue leaves and red pepper I did before I accomplished my first creation!
I had to think abou what you wrote but I've got it now, and yes!

Thanks Debi - used to have this framed and think I might re-freame it and put it back on the wall now!
Well, thank you, Kathrin!

It's mine! Especially the colours!!!
I'm flattered that you even tried for the Smarties! Bad luck!
Was there meant to be a pun in there?!!
p.s. Couldn't find you on Facebook. Have a look at the end of my text on my profile on here and send me a word - if you like - I'd like you to!
