The walled garden at Mottisfont is full of roses, rosebuds, aquilegias, lavender, alliums, lilac, irises, peonies...... A flowery paradise.

But I always find myself drawn to the roses.

I love roses and it was the Cadbury's chocolates advert that came to mind when I saw the quote too :)
Sadly, the dry acid sandy soil and salty winds of Scilly doesn't suit most roses, although the vigorous species like Rosa rugosa and Canary Bird do very well here. Our R. rugosa is currently flowering profusely and the scent is to die for ...
