Close-up of the scarecrow who has featured more than once on my page. He sits in splendid isolation now in the walled garden: no display of big golden marrows, no huge onions drying out.
He still has his red 'lipstick' and mug, though and his plastic pigeon for company!
I searched for info about scarecrows and find they often feature in literature. I liked this:
"In Kojiki, the oldest surviving book in Japan (compiled in the year 712), a scarecrow known as Kuebiko appears as a deity who cannot walk, yet knows everything about the world."
