Who am I?

This is not really a puzzle because I found a photo to give the answer to this little verse I found on a wall at the Eden Project.

I rather like the words but I'm not sure if I have seized the meaning of 'America's baby'. I would be interested to know what anybody else thinks.
I will give my view but first want to know if anyone will agree.

Fantastic image beautifully presented Hazel, that little sign brought back many childhood memories, particularly the Orange at the bottom of the Christmas Stocking or in my case the pillar case, lol:)

An innocent orange treat at Christmas years ago but a new & horrifying meaning of Orange in Vietnam. Human mistake always has tragic consequences which still cause misery & long term problems. If only they knew!!
