the blue door

architecture in Winchester
How beautiful! Historically it's interesting to see that people didn't always have front yards and entrances up the walkway to the front door!

@pcoulson

Thank you! I didn't know the name of the brickwork but I've always liked it.

@Weezilou

Yes, many old houses in cities have their front door opening straight on to the pavement, even rather grand ones such as this.

Lovely shot. I love the brickwork. Interesting mixture of the old of the bricks, door and windows and the modern shutters.

I want to see this one square on.. I think it could be really good, symmetrical but not quite.

@yrhenwr

Will it shift square I wonder. Playing on the iPad now but will have a look tomorrow on my laptop. Your wish....... b&w too?!

@quietpurplehaze There is something about blue (and red) doors that I find attractive and inviting. I like the different colour in the bricks too, (Oh my what am I saying... could it be an effect of the steroids?) The important thing for me would be to keep the texture in the brickwork.

@yrhenwr PS Might be too distorting to square it up with software. Next time you are passing, perhaps?

@yrhenwr

Could be as I've found a new free parking place and my walking route into Winchester from it takes me past this lovely house. I did start a collection of red doors on churches but only managed 4. I did also start a series of Wetherspoons (at your suggestion) ...... ...Do steroids affect one's brain. I don't know! Hope they work anyway - on the knees I mean.
