A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
i passed by a garden yesterday and it has lily of the valley along its edges. i will have to visit it every day as anytime now the flowers will come. i just love these flowers and for some reasons, i don't have a reaction to its scent. looking forward to more of yours, hazel. this is a beauty!
Thank you for all your comments. Decided to do a bit of research about lily of the valley and I found
1 not really a lily
2 all parts of the plant are very poisonous
3 sometimes the little bell shaped flowers can be pink not white
4 scientific name, majalis means "of or belonging to May",
5 and the biblical connections, (tears of Mary or Eve)
Oh yes, Arthur! My grandmother had a big patch of this just outside her back door in her tiny back garden and I've always loved it.
