A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Beautiful richness & colour here Hazel...I have never tasted a mussel but they do look very tasty specially with a glass of white wine. I need to be out with someone who chooses to have mussels & then try one.
We first tried mussels in a similar way in France several years ago - a friend with us had some and we had a taste. We both love them but when Neil, our son, ate one, I thought he was going to be sick! Very much love or hate I think.
The area I live is famous for it. In our country and far beyond. Love them.
When I was a kid I did collect them on the piers into the sea. Nowadays we buy them and is big business . The Dutch town Ierseke is the centre. ( See wikipedia )
You are so right but I find wine lunchtime makes me feel too sleepy and we still had another 2 hours' journey!
