I set off for a quick 20 min walk before breakfast with Jinks this morning. We got home nearly an hour later, having met lots of dogwalking friends and their dogs and everybody was interested in his escapade.
One of the ladies we met was the one who found him up the road and phoned us on her mobile. She confirmed that he'd been seen over the fields - having a midnight feast of rabbit droppings, I don't doubt.
I jest about it and I know our dogs won't be with us for ever but I've been upset of course and how awful if he'd disappeared and never been found. I think one or two friends felt rather cross with Jinks' doggy behaviour.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
A lovely colourful shot. It is nice to know others care and are helpful in a crises at least Jinks has returned home unharmed it must have been very worrying time for you
They look delicious.
My terrier Simba (My first dog) used to love rolling in Kangaroo poo. He escaped a few times as well. Luckily he was returned every time. and once walked from my mums house to my house looking for me. He was sitting on the front doorstep when I got home (my mum was looking after him during the day).
He is naughty to put you through this upset and not even have the decency to be remorseful! I take it he is chipped, so if he had the chance to do it again, you would have some hope of him being returned?
Nice looking sweeties
Kind of nice that Simba walked back to you, Jinks was not far away when found and had been seen right over the fields so maybe he was on his way home?!! I think not somehow.
Well I guess he is, but i've heard of Cairns who are much worse - have to be something docile next time but it would be hard to have a boring lap dog!!!! We do have a very difficult garden to make safe, too. OK, yes, I'm making excuses for him!!!!
Boys will be boys.......I imagine Jinks has put it to the back of his mind......he would be telling all his doggy friends on the walk all about his adventures! Perhaps he was trying to get to France!

Yes, we had him chipped as soon as we got him but the main thing was his tag with the phone no on which got him back to us quickly when he was found.

Thank you both for your sympathetic comments. It's seeming back to normal here, more or less, now!
I guess Jinks has no idea of the commotion he caused. I wish I could be more like a little dog just living in the moment!!!
Maybe you could show us a shot?!
