crumble-jam-pie: number 2

We met friends for lunch yesterday and during the drive down country roads I spied these at a garden gate.

So I bought two bags (3 lb in weight each for £1 each) and I've frozen some but now have plum jam to make today.

I never can resist fresh produce and at another garden gate I bought green beans, a bunch of dahlias and one of sunflowers.
Great shot.

What a bargain and a great find. Nice to buy local and fresh.

That sounds like the best place to shop! Our favorite kind of jelly is wild plum. My dad grew up on Oklahoma and picked them there. It's hard to find, but really delicious. The wild plums are a little tart. I wonder if yours are? Happy canning!

@nana2r

Ray tried one before I started processing them (believ it or not I am at this moment commenting on 365 and making plum jam - our kitchen is next to the hall where the computer is sited!) and said it was fine.

@linnypinny

The composition is all due to the person selling the plums - it caught my eye - perhaps they are also a photographer!

Great shot Hazel. They might be photographers, but they do have to make it eye appealing to the public so they buy, buy, buy...LOL.. Nice comp.

@ninaganci

I remember my parents buying produce from folk's gardens and think this has long been a tradition in England - just in the countryside.

Well I think it's the best place to buy in season fruit & veg at this time of the year........they have loads of stalls selling home produce in NZ. The freshest & cheapest place to buy.....plum jam..yummy!

I am not familiar with plum jam but I'd bet it is delicious! Wonderful capture!

Nice visual textures to go along with the imagined flavours. Our plum tree is absolutely laden this year.
