Ray and I met Roger at Petworth, a National Trust property in Sussex, where he works as a volunteer room guide. He gives talks about the paintings and the history of Petworth, which this year has been awarded accreditation as an art gallery from the Arts Council.
In addition Roger works in a team of 8 volunteers who give 'costume interpretation' for visitors to Petworth. No stranger, therefore, to requests for photos, he had no hesitation in agreeing to be a subject for my project.
I took about half a dozen photos and preferred this one because of the light and the background blur of period wallpaper. This is the first portrait I've taken indoors in this project and no flash is allowed in National Trust properties so I put the ISO, also the white balance, on auto.
I'm sending a photo to Roger via email as I did to Sandra. None of my 3 subjects so far has minded being asked to stand in front of a neutral background.
btw this is a learning project, not just strangers to be grabbed and 'shot' asap!
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Well captured, it is lovely taking people shots. When I started it on my Friday photos I didn't know how long it would last, but I am still going. a lovely way to chat to strangers.
It is easy to get carried away with the project and you are right to go steady . I was reading a blog from an experienced "100 strangerer", it is a good read, with some sound tips:

It was indeed and Roger was very knowledgeable.
Thank you - I'm enjoying it too - something quite different.
Phil, thanks, have bookmarked to read when we are back home - looks interesting.
