Our local Brasserie Blanc was refurbished not so long ago.

It was deemed fit to replace the colourful Mediterranean-style tiles with a plain grey slab...........

Luckily I'd taken a shot of the beautiful tiles a while ago.
What a shame. The old tiles are so much more interesting.

@claycameras

I could hardly believe it!

So sad to think these beauties are being replaced.

What a shame!

Oh that is a bit sad... they look in good condition... love the frog one..

Must go against the flow with this one Hazel I prefer the new textured grey slate flooring against that tatty looking Mediterranean tile, the fact I've just had my kitchen and utility rooms laid with grey slate identical to the Brasserie only the joints are must smaller may have a bearing on it, lol:)

@pcoulson

You're allowed, Peter! We have grey slate tiles in our hall.

What a shame. I guess the grey slate will make it easier for choosing decor that doesn't clash.

I do love the tiles, sad to see them replaced with dull grey slate tiles :)

The tiles are quite beautiful - glad you have a photo of them!

Oh I do hope they kept the colourful tiles when they raised them, would be a shame to see them shattered.

Beautiful tiles, but I prefer the grey slate.

The grey slate is attractive and clean looking but I see that it lacks the charm and individuality of the more colourful tiles. Still, all a matter of taste and preference I guess. Glad you captured the old ones before they disappeared.

Cool picture.

Great to see the tiles before they disppeared such lovely colours and designs I hope they found a use for them .

Nice shot of old and new...too bad they could not have incorporated a few of the tile into the new flooring

@onewing

I understand they are at another restaurant.

@wendyfrost

Passed on I believe!

Why do people do this? Such beautiful tiles and no doubt a talking point in the restaurant.

I do n`t like floor tiles at all. Everything that drops on it is sure broken. For a wall I love those old ones. Holland has a long tradition of making tiles. Old ones are very expecive.

No comparison, we need colour in our lives, not drab grey.

Oh, what a shame - the colourful tiles are so much more interesting. At least you managed to capture them before they were ripped out!
