The only building from the Military Hospital still standing at Royal Victoria Country Park is the chapel.
From the official website:
"The historic chapel is all that remains of the British Army’s first purpose built military hospital and the exciting £3.5 million Heritage Lottery Fund project has seen the restoration of the original Victorian interiors, the creation of a new exhibition, visitor facilities and outdoor information points."
Here I met Mary, my stranger no. 153, in the new café.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Annie, indeed it is - a 150ft tower with cupola. I have also added some info under my photo and will be posting more shots of the Chapel in the coming days. Thanks for your interest.
What a fabulous building. So glad it has been saved. Far too many of our old buildings are destroyed these days. I am seeing buildings being demolished in Newcastle and replaced by modern high rises. Such a shame to see history disappearing.

A surprise for us as I knew nothing about it! And how kind to employ a lovely young lady who posed for my strangers' project!!
Beautiful sky too.
