My late father-in-law’s “computer”, which served him from college (at “U. of Detroit Eng”) into the 1980’s. Miss you, Dad. You would have *such* fun with this 365 project!
Thom- I think we're onto a theme here! This is an excellent collection of items both in tribute to your father-in-law and to an bygone era. Now you've given me an idea!

@sharonlowe It took about a dozen frames to get the lighting right and frame the edges of the text in the user’s manual, but eventually I got there! I also have my late great-uncle’s slide rule. It’s almost the same as this one, but this image will generate the same thought from all Dad’s kids and grandkids. Dad’s name is on the inside of the case and his name is etched — in cursive, no less! — on the frame of the slide rule. Us kids can’t help but think, “That's so ‘Dad’!” and the grandkids will know it, too: “That’s so ‘Grandpa’!” He’s been gone 6 years last month and we still miss him a lot…

@dandtsgal Me, too. And by the way, 5 x 1.5 = 7.5 (according to the calculation on the slide rule)!

Amazing how crippled we have become over the years due to technology, where at a touch of a button we don't have to think and the computer/calculator does everything for us! Great shot!

The lighting in this shot is spot-on Thom!

@oneinodd Thank you so much, Lisa! This set-up was on the floor under a window with indirect light plus bounced flash. Without any photography classes or much reading, it was Dad who taught me to “fill” with flash…

@sharonlowe BTW, Sharon, I would describe your recent “mystery” subject as a “word processor’s” sort of what, “factory refurbisher”? ;)
