(Not to be confused with Jack & Diane…) Our friends George and Diane have had quite a month. Their daughter successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation in German, their son graduated with an M.D. degree and George was honored by the University as this year's recipient of its Distinguished Service Award. This was taken after an elegant dinner with the chancellor, her husband and several others. It was my privilege to nominate my friend … with whom I share a birthday!

@angievega Thank you, Angie! Fortunate, yes, but hard-working, too. They own and operate a large, retail store. And yet despite the demands of "retail," they donate their time, talent and treasure to church, community and university.
