Zebra swallowtail

Zebra swallowtail on our butterfly bush. Thanks for the heads-up, Clare!

Confirmed at BAMONA as “Eurytides marcellus” (family, Papilionidae; subfamily, Papilioninae) or “Zebra Swallowtail”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/724339

I first saw one of these "bad boys" (That is what I call things to be silly and my fourth graders think it is funny...haha) on spring break this year at the lake. I was blown away because I'd always seen the yellow in person and knew there were the black ones from pics. I had not really been aware of these. What a color scheme! They are beautiful!

@espyetta They *are* beautiful. Unfortunately, they’re *in*frequent visitors to our garden. :-( I think I may have become aware of “bad boys” first with Tim Allen on “Home Improvement”!
