Double-banded Scoliid by rhoing

Double-banded Scoliid

Only saw one butterfly I haven't photographed yet; it flew one big loop around the garden, tall shrubs and butterfly bush and left. :-(

This wasp, however, is rather attractive. Today I registered at BugGuide.net. Ken Wolgemuth came to my rescue and identified this as “Scolia bicincta” — http://bugguide.net/node/view/4336 — thanks, Ken! Here's another view with some identifying features — like the double band! — that probably made it easier for Ken: http://bugguide.net/node/view/674660

Confirmed at BugGuide as “Scolia bicincta” or “Double-banded Scoliid”; http://bugguide.net/node/view/674660
