This is Roland on our row back to the dock. (He’s a little easier to see if you “magnify.”) We were *at the dock* at 5:15, literally qualifying as “at the crack of dawn.”
I now realize that my camera date-and-time are still set for Boston (Eastern) time. Hence, the time this was taken was *6*:44 a.m. rather than 7:44 a.m. Noteworthy, however, is the fact that I have a [P&S] camera I can take in the boat with me!

I was thinking of you as I was watching the Olympic rowers today - even though they were women. Was thinking that you hadn't posted any photos of Roland or the lake recently - and then tonight - voila!
@sparkleplenty1 I watched lightweight men's double sculling on Saturday: 36 strokes per minute and a sub-1:40/500m pace is just insane. And they don't even look like they're workin' all that hard... Only just got this point-and-shoot last week. (Had it delivered to a daughter for my arrival in Boston!)
@vickisfotos Aww, thank you, Vicki. I went out this afternoon. It's such a multi-faceted fitness pursuit! There is, of course, the fitness aspect (all major muscle groups, full range-of-motion for arms & legs), but there is also the challenge and discipline of maintaining good form while doing the cardio thing, and how many fitness activities can beat this kind of workout area? Discovered rowing at age 50 (but that's another story!)
@vickisfotos I was hoping to compete -- in the "masters" division" -- at a regatta this fall, but it hasn't worked out for this year. Yep; this is my fitness thing. [Aside: A year ago today my friend, Roland, & I flew to Vermont for a weekend sculling camp at the Craftsbury Center. So my next couple of "A year ago" links will go back to that weekend!]
