Variegated Fritillary by rhoing

Variegated Fritillary

The garden was a busy place today with a Pipevine Swallowtail — http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/937032 — another Monarch, lots of Painted Ladies (including one that was deceased and just lying on the patio concrete) and this Variegated Fritillary. I photographed my first Variegated Fritillary early this summer, but it was at the lake — http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2013-06-03 — this is the first I’ve spotted in our garden.

Confirmed at BAMONA as “Euptoieta claudia” or “Variegated Fritillary”; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/sighting_details/937034
