Today we had a line of very destructive storms pass through our region. At a speed of 60–65 mph. There were EF-4 tornadoes (EF-5 being the most destructive), though we were spared from that. I like the dream-like quality of the photo. I didn't realize you were in Illinois. Though I live in Los Angeles, I'm from Aurora... Went to U of I. Glad you and your family are ok.
@ellen Ah, Aurora. My great-uncle was George Peters (see http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-01-19) who graduated Michigan State College in 1936, went to work for Aurora Metal Company and never left Aurora. He had a very important role, when I was a high school senior, in influencing the path my life would take. Been to Aurora several times over the years, even though it's a 5-6 hour drive within Illinois!
Yes, quite a long drive to the southern tip. They have different accents down there too! How wild - my childhood home was actually in Montgomery, less than 4 miles from Aurora Metal Company.
