Crocuses, in failing light by rhoing

Crocuses, in failing light

Had dinner with good friends Raymond & Jeanne as Clare is out of town this weekend. Clare has gone to a surprise bridal shower for our daughter being married in a couple of months. Daughter Jenny didn’t know there would be a shower and couldn’t have known her mom would be in town. “Lies” have been told and apparently well-sold!

Anyway, as I usually do at Raymond & Jeanne’s, I had a post-dinner walk in the neighborhood with Raymond & Abby, their lab. These “crocuses” were popping up in a neighbor’s yard. That’s the genus name (in the Iris family, “Iridaceae”); I’m not going to hazard a guess on the species, as these could be “cultivars.”
