Fuchsia

Today we [finally] celebrated Clare’s birthday with Raymond and Jeanne. Her birthday occurred during Lent this year, so it got bumped to after-Easter and then they had something and we had something. So her April 9 birthday dinner got bumped into May before both of our schedules had an opening. (This is not the first time we’ve celebrated Clare’s birthday in May.)

Of course there was “day-old soup” (lobster bisque, ). There was an Irish Summer attitude adjustment, a Caesar salad, pork tenderloin and a spice cake (Clare’s favorite). Her birthday gift was a plant for our garden. I’m sure a photo will surface here at some point! But I digress.

Our after-dinner ritual is to walk Raymond & Jeanne’s dog, Abby, around the small pond adjacent to their property. This was a shrub alongside a driveway on our walk. Lydia — http://365project.org/gizathecat/365 — is exactly right: it’s a Fuchsia (family Onagraceae). First of all, Happy Birthday to Clare, and even though it was late, I'm sure it was a pleasure to share it with your neighbors. Secondly, this is a great shot Thom
