Went to a minor league baseball game with a couple friends tonight. Southern Illinois has a Frontier League team, the Southern Illinois Miners, http://www.southernillinoisminers.com/
(The Frontier League is an independent league, so the teams do not have an affiliation with a major league team.) Tonight the Miners’ opponent was the Windy City Thunderbolts. Scoreless after 9 innings, with the home team’s pitchers combining for a 3-hitter, the Miners won 3–0 in the tenth with a 3-run walk-off homer. It was a surprisingly beautiful evening for southern Illinois in August and it was an exciting finish for the home team. This photo, taken in the 10th inning, was taken from my seat, so we had great seats, too!
(Oh, this batter struck out swinging, but #15 who was on deck, Niko Vasquez, hit the game-winning homer on a 2–0 pitch!)
