Our niece, Liz, graduated from the University today, so I put on my faculty robes and sat with the faculty. For the last time? Probably. Come fall semester this year, there will be no students on campus that I had in class or advised. Spring 2021 edit. Yep; last commencement in regalia to this date now.
Why sit with the faculty? When the graduates come off the stage, faculty can greet them and hug them and congratulate them on the floor, which I did for Liz, as well as my last favorite-student.

@maggiemae Miss it? Yes and no. It's nice to see the students and possibly meet their parents and significant others. But it's a slog of a day, and typically warm or hot in the spring, made worse by the academic attire. Of course, the last few ceremonies have been very different during “Covid time.”
