Last commencement in regalia? by rhoing

Last commencement in regalia?

Our niece, Liz, graduated from the University today, so I put on my faculty robes and sat with the faculty. For the last time? Probably. Come fall semester this year, there will be no students on campus that I had in class or advised.
Spring 2021 edit. Yep; last commencement in regalia to this date now.

Why sit with the faculty? When the graduates come off the stage, faculty can greet them and hug them and congratulate them on the floor, which I did for Liz, as well as my last favorite-student.

5½ weeks behind in posting. I can't even remember when I was “caught up”…

You deserve to be up there with the rest of the esteemed teachers, being one yourself! You will miss this occasion!

@maggiemae Miss it? Yes and no. It's nice to see the students and possibly meet their parents and significant others. But it's a slog of a day, and typically warm or hot in the spring, made worse by the academic attire. Of course, the last few ceremonies have been very different during “Covid time.”
