International Rose Test Garden

In the City of Roses, we rode the light rail out to Washington Park — http://explorewashingtonpark.org/ — and rode the shuttle to International Rose Test Garden — https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/finder/index.cfm?action=viewpark&propertyid=1113 — part of Portland's Department of Parks and Recreation. Clare wished she could bottle the scents and take them home with us.

Today:
• 2-hour bike ride (checked out at our hotel)
• lunch at Rogue Ales and Spirits, http://www.rogue.com/
• out to Washington Park
• supper and a flight at Fat Head's, http://fatheadsportland.com/

We biked across the Willamette River—
on Tilikum Crossing, https://trimet.org/tilikum/
and came back on the Steel Bridge, http://www.portlandbridges.com/steel-bridge.html

This looks so pretty. So many of the new modified flowers no longer have any scent. so you were lucky to get so many nice smelling ones.

Hi, Thom! @janeandcharlie mentioned that I'd enjoy seeing your photos as you're visiting Portland, my home city. I'm loving your shots! Will follow you to see what you're shooting. Enjoy your stay here in the City of Roses!

@cathieg Alas, this will be our 4th and last night here. Tomorrow morning we are off to Union Station and the Amtrak Cascades to Seattle. I have had a professional fascination and curiosity about Portland (and Oregon overall perhaps): no sales tax. So, for example, how does the city pay for police & fire & trash collection & ...?
