S.t.r.e.t.c.h.i.n.g Eastern Carpenter Bee

At least I think it's probably an Eastern Carpenter Bee (“Xylocopa virginica”), as on this day four years ago! On Sweet Basil. I like how its left, back leg is on an adjacent plant stem!

Confirmed at BugGuide as subspecies “Xylocopa virginica virginica” or “Eastern Carpenter Bee”; https://bugguide.net/node/view/1464437

Not doing very well with Nifty-Fifty for September…

Spectacular capture. The contrast of the black and the green is great.

He's a wonderfully hairy bee. I wish we had them here.
