My dad passed away 7 years ago and he wanted me to have his wristwatch. It's been a long-distance process, but I think we now have a solution!
There is a clock-and-watch repair shop in Clare's mom's hometown of Fremont, OH. When we visited in June, Clare & I took two watches for new batteries.
Clare's was revived by a new battery, but this watch had more serious problems. The shop ordered a new movement.
On our next visit in July, the movement was replaced.
Unfortunately, the date wheel didn't fully click into place, so I took it back on our next visit in August. The technician also noticed that the day/date wheel was poorly printed, so she ordered another one.
Now on this visit, the poorly printed, not-fully-clicking movement is in the zip-lock bag and Dad's watch seems to be working well. Of course reading an old-school, analog watch with 63-year old eyes is an entirely different problem…
» I posted the back-side of the movement a few days later
