Saw this one resting on the sign as I was driving by, so had to pull off and go back for a few shots. Just love the way they tuck that foot up into the stomach area and stand on the one foot.
Great photo - excellent focus, nice jaunty angle to the sign, super DOF creating a bokeh background. What's your secret, getting these birds to stay put????!! I spot a hawk, make the effort to circle back around and as soon as the car pulls off the road the bird flies. I'm doomed to never get a decent hawk shoot.

Not sure what it is Denise, but I've been able to almost walk up to them and shake claws. (Maybe not that close, but it almost seems like it) from some of the shots that I've gotten lately.
