I think this one was about to be over. At least from what I remember about chess, it looks like there may be only one or two moves and the brown queen will put the tan king in Checkmate. I see these two guys down at this table quite a bit and they are always really deep in thought over the next move. Not sure where they had gotten off to and left the board.
