One more shot of the baby, as the Audubon lady was carrying it back to the cage for transportation. She was very careful in the way she had to hold it, especially those claws.
How wonderful that the eagle is in good hands and stands a stellar chance of survival. It’s fantastic to see an eagle up close like this; they truly are a magnificent bird of prey.
@koalagardens@jgpittenger This is a wild eagle. Not sure how it got down from the nest, but once on the ground, it wasn't able to fly, or at least didn't seem to try. The lady holding it, was taking it to one of the raptor rescue locations, where it will be watched over and kept until it is ready to fly. Apparently, they have some sort of large cage like structures that they can put the bird in and then they can see if it is able to fly. Hopefully, once they know it can fly, they will bring it back to where the nest was and then set it free at that point, and hopefully, mom and dad can still sort of watch over it until it can be totally out on it's own. Mostly catching fish.
@rickster549 oh thanks for the story Rick! I'm so glad they were able to get it quickly and let's hope it's a success! I was pretty sure these were wild, but I'm so easily confused lol
