Pebbles in a cup - no - a very different fungi....

We have never seen this fungi before. It is quite fascinating - we think the "pebbles' might be the spore capsules??? It is only about 5mm across and occurs in small groups. This is SOOC.
what an awesome shot, fav!

@suzanne234 Hi Suzanne - there appears to be young ones which haven't developed the "pebbles" yet. So maybe they increase in size as the spores develop and then just burst. I'll have another look today - just out of curiosity. Cheers Rob

Could be spores- or some little woodland gnome is collecting pebbles to build a cottage. Good shot!

@olivetreeann I love the other option - I can just imagine him carrying them all to his little container!! LOL

@nobled Ohh - thanks so much Dorothy - I was hoping someone would know something about them! They really are amazing - we've never had them here either - or at least we have never noticed them! They are extremely small and blend in well with the leaf litter. I'm hoping they keep appearing now!! Thanks again Cheers Rob
