The name comes from the Bible (New Testament) where Jesus refers to Himself as the Vine and the people who follow Him as the branches- hence each church is like a vineyard producing the fruit of faith so to speak. It's a very popular movement among Christians with a style of worship that involves lots of singing with contemporary music/instruments. I'm not sure where it started but I think it was Australia. Now I'll have to go look in my Christian/Church history books to see if my memory is serving me correctly. Good catch.
@olivetreeann Thanks so much for all of this info Ann - I didn't realize that they even existed elsewhere. They do indeed have lots of singing - they organize concerts by all sorts of choirs and international touring singing groups - very community orientated. @olivetreeann@casablanca@taffy@golftragic
