Same flowers, same place, same pov, same time... by robz

Same flowers, same place, same pov, same time...

But one with spot metering and spot focusing. A very useful experiment. :)
"From memory - I think I did flip one horizontally to make them pair up.."
Lovely

Nice pic😊

Nice experiment......so long as you can always remember which setting did what! (I need to start writing these things down LOL because I can never remember!)

Both are fabulous, I should try doing that too.

How interesting and with different but equally beautiful outcomes . I need to pay more attention to my settings and the consequences!! :)

Nicely done and explained

Nice demonstration

Great to experiment with settings. I need to do more of it. So many settings that I've never even tried

Thanks everyone for your encouragement - I love this hobby because it lets you experiment. And I love this site because everyone is always so patient with crazy experiments! So, a big thank you for all of your great comments - much appreciated. Cheers Rob

I prefer the LH pic - which was spot metered pse? Have never tried that ...

Fascinating

Cool. Think I prefer the one on the right.

@fbailey Hi FB. The one on the left was spot metered - it made such a difference. The sunlight was coming from behind the flowers as it was late afternoon, so the spot metering seemed to set the aperture and iso to ignore that extra light and hence everything became darker - nicer colours but probably not as true life. Interesting to play with. Cheers Rob

@rickster549 Hi Rick - that's the normal setting - it's actually more true to life. :)

@casablanca LOL - how very true - I think that's why I have these perpetual experiments - I keep forgetting what happens!! Keeps you interested anyway.. :)

Interesting. I assume that the spot metering and spot focus is supposed to produce a better picture, but I actually like the brighter one better. Silly me!
