My daughter is drying lavender, which is hanging upside down in her bedroom window. I am quite sure that there is some medicinal value in this exercise but, having a black thumb, I have no idea what that might be.

Once it's dry, you strip the flowers off and put them into little bags for keeping your hankies, jumpers etc sweet-smelling. Munching moths don't much care for lavender. If you can't be bothered doing the little bag thing, shove a good handful, stalks 'n all into a pillow-case and whack that into a drawer/cupboard. Same effect, less hassle.
Beautiful image Rosie! My limited knowledge says that lavender is known as being calming, but I could be wrong. I bought three house plants this spring and two out of three are thriving the third is on deaths door, in the past it would have been three for three dead, so maybe I have discovered a greenish thumb, or is it just luck? Time will tell :)
