I was just about to go out for a quick walk along Wood Lane and as I stepped into the garden, I heard an almighty crash so I went to see what had happened because as I suspected, 2 cars had collided. It happened as the car on the right was signalling to turn right into our road and the car on the left decided not to wait and smashed into it, swerved and nearly hit another car which was waiting to leave our road. Anyway, I took a shot of each car so that our neighbour along the road can send it to his insurance company. Fortunately, none of the occupants were seriously hurt but our neighbour had his 4 year old daughter with him so she was a bit shaken up! The car on the left was undriveable and the driver came from Coventry and wasn't in the AA or RAC so I am not sure how he was going to get himself and the car home but when we came back from town, both him and his car had gone. It is a dangerous corner because although we have a 30 mph speed limit in the village, people still drive too fast and don't seem to watch what they are doing. I can't help wondering whether he had been playing with a mobile phone!
Ooch, that hurts. I grew up near a very dangerous corner, and this sight was very familiar to us. The city, after numerous people were killed, decided to put up a barrier to divert traffic to another, less dangerous, street.
Glad that no one was seriously injured. Hope the little neighbor girl wasn't too traumatized. These collisions happen so amazingly fast and unfortunately all too often.
