FORMAL GARDEN – SCHONBRUNN PALACE, VIENNA (1)

This is the formal garden of Schonbrunn, Austria’s Imperial family’s summer residence. The picture is taken from behind a Neptune fountain with the Palace as a backdrop. Schonbrunn Palace has vast grounds which include also the oldest zoo in Europe. Now starting my last group of photos on our Hungary/Austria holiday.

Today, it is Independence Day and a national holiday in Malta. At 00.00 hours on 21st September, 1964, the last British flag was lowered and the Maltese flag took its place on every public building in Malta. During the last 47 years Malta managed to transform itself from a fortress serving the British government into a modern country, (although tiny and without any natural resources) having a triving tourist industry, the largest transhipment hub in the Mediterranean, a centre for financial services in the Mediterranean, and some very important industries. God bless Malta.

how spectacular - looks like Versaiiles

@peterauliciems Yes, Peter, it is a lovely place, but Versailles is more grandoise and is much more richly ornate, especially the inside. Thanks for commenting.
