ADDOLORATA CEMETERY by sangwann

ADDOLORATA CEMETERY

Two more grave memorials I came across as I was walking out of the Addolorata Cemetery. The left one is a marble sculpture whilst the other is sculpted out of Maltese limestone. If you look closely at the marble sculpture will see the following words under the sculpture: ‘Salvu l-Iskultur’ which means Saviour the sculptor. I think that this sculpture is a creation of Salvu. Whether it was made by him purposely to be put on his grave or chosen by relatives (or friends) from amongst his works I cannot say.
Many thanks for looking and commenting on yesterday’s picture.
Both are beautiful captures, Dione! I do really love the angel though!

These are quite amazing pieces. Pardon my confusion, but is Salvu a well-known sculptor on Malta?

@olivetreeann I don't know. His surname wasn't on the memorial and there are many Salvu in Malta. But he must be a good sculptor because this sculpture is beautiful and it is sculpted in marble which is 100 times more hard than limestone.
