Sunday, 29th December, was a fabulous day for me, photography-wise, when I had a whole day of photo-shooting opportunities.
My brother and I were hurrying back to where our car was because we received a phone call from our wives that they had agreed that we go to Gozo in the afternoon; the camera was packed in its case and I had no intention of taking more shots that morning. I saw this Santa paddling his sort of surf board and coming closer to where we were. The temptation to reach for the camera was there but I held back until I saw him fall off the board into the sea. I almost kicked myself in the a… for losing such an opportunity of capturing him fall over. So out came the camera and I stood there taking shots of him, hoping to see a repetition which while I was there didn’t happen.
In the large photo you can see Santa trying to get back on his board. The other shots are of him attempting to get his balance on the board before paddling off. At one time I was sure he would fall back in the sea - I even shouted at him to fall so I could capture him (that was wicked of me, wasn’t it?).

Great shots. I like how you have composed them. I am seeing those paddle boards everywhere on the South Coast of Australia. They look like fun and hard work.
Great collage! It's actually called a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP for short) - a stand up kind of canoeing sport - apparently its becoming quite popular lately. You still managed to capture a few good shots of Santa anyway! :)
@jpgiorgio is right they are SUPs, one of the fastest sports in the world apparently. My husband and kids who are windsurfers really enjoy this sport especially when there is too little wind to windsurf and It's actually a really good form of exercise engaging all the core body muscles plus you get a great view too. Oh and it's much easier than many other water sports so everyone can do it, even Santa! Great fun shots Dione.
What a fun find and montage! Not quite how you expect to see Santa getting around but now we have an idea of what he gets up to when he's not delivering presents.
OH, wow! Fun collage. Oddly enough, I saw one of these SUPs today on the riverfront when I was on my bus to work. I didn't know what it was called or what exactly the person was doing, as they seemed to be wearing winter clothes! @paulaw
@nanalisarocks just realised I left out a word which totally changes the meaning of what I've written! Should say one of the fastest GROWING sports in the world!!!!!!
