A final set of shots from Sunday’s WWI experience at Fort Madalena. Enlarge for best views, if you have time.
Top two pictures symbolize females helping in the war effort by knitting warm cloths for the soldiers. Of course, they have to have their break from work and pass the time dancing to one of the tunes of the era.
Bottom two pictures envisage the loneliness of being away from the ones you love. Here the men in the trenches send and receive news to/from their women at home. The women are anxious for the return safe and sound of their loved ones.
Thank you so much for the interest you have shown on this series of photos, for your lovely comments and the fav’s. Always very much appreciated.
Is this an re-enactment! We have something on NZ Tv as a programme coming up! Its just super to see these photos - makes us realise the reality of those times!
Your images really do tell the story of how normal people were effected by the War. I can't imagine having members of my family away, fighting and in danger.
Very impresive as previous. We must not forget about how evil the humans can be fighting ones each others and how fascinating could us be when we throw a hand to help others
Very thoughtful series of shots, Dione and, as always, very well-presented montages. The sepia tones in this work well for the period the tableaux are representing.
