Strong winds but the sea wasn’t as rough as I was expecting it to be. This inlet is normally swarming with boats of the fishermen of the area. In Summer the fishermen make good money by taking tourists for boat rides along the rugged coast up to the Blue Grotto and back. On the day all the boats had been brought up on the land because of the adverse weather forecast.
Geologists say that Malta and other smaller islands were the tops of a ridge which divided the Mediterranean into two basins millions of years ago and connected Edurope to Africa. Movement of the rock plates caused the ridge to succumb, the two basins to become one big lake which is now the Mediterranean and the tops of the ridge to form islands. Hence the rock formation here gives the impression that this was the top end of a river or glacier.
Stuff like that is so interesting as long as you don’t think too much about what’s underneath you!! I expect the water can rush up that I let at a fair pace!
