For the anniversary of the start of WW1 - Zeiss binoculars my grandfather liberated from a German tank when he was fighting in WW1. He came back deafened by the big guns on the Somme, blown out ear drums. Started the war as a cavalry man, finished driving tanks. He lived into his 80s and my teens, so I remember him quite well.
